Bio

Raleigh Wilde Burgan is a Toronto ex-pat currently living in Los Angeles. Working as a fashion editor for media powerhouse E!, Raleigh shares her style know-how on just about everything through their ever growing Style Collective. Casual. Not only does she have good style, and the credits to back it up (FASHION Magazine and The Coveteur, anyone?), she’s also got a fun-loving attitude that makes her style even better. Don’t believe us? Check out her Instagram for a poised and perfectly photographed, but not too perfect, collection of her escapades. Raleigh loves good coffee and great denim—a girl after our own heart.

Q&A

How do you start your day off?

I wake up at around 6:30 a.m., check my e-mail, drink some coffee (and by some, I mean more than I’ll ever really tell), then head into the office for 8:30 a.m.

What’s going on in the background when you are getting ready?

I don’t actually have anything on while I’m getting ready – my husband, who’s a chef, and I are on very different schedules, so I’m quite in the mornings because he’s still asleep. Once I get to my car, that’s a whole different ball game. My ‘fave’ Spotify playlist gets cranked (my username is Raleigh GB, if you’re a hip hop lover), and I have myself a serious dance/karaoke sesh while driving.

You never leave home without…

My iPhone! Such a cliché/sour answer, but I really couldn’t do anything without it. My e-mail is always in my hand!

ALEXANDER WANG Daze oversized distressed denim jacket

What are your closet essentials?

A great pair of jeans will never go out of style. I think I have about 20 pairs. Also, plain white t-shirts with no graphics are also a necessity, as well as a clean pair of white sneakers, and/or black thin ankle strap heels. I’m a big fan of jackets (denim, leather, bomber, varsity, etc.), too.

What is your biggest fashion regret?

I was in grade one and it was picture day. My mom urged me not to wear this block necklace I had made with my name on it. Obviously, I didn’t listen. Two weeks later, the photo proofs were sent to my house, and my necklace was upside down. I don’t actually regret wearing it (because it’s now a great story), but at the time I was so embarrassed!

You always splurge on, and you always save on…

I always spurge on my fashion. I think well-made clothing and accessories are well worth spending money on because they will last you so much longer.

I always save on supplies for my home. I’m totally guilty of buying different brands of whatever every time I’m at CVS because they’re on sale.

What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?

I had this killer oversized denim jacket I wish I’d kept.

Your fashion motto is…

Go ahead – it’s always worth it.

Your #1 style tip is…

If you’re ever in doubt, tuck it in.
