In theory, I like the colour pink. I find I’m always drawn to Acne shopping bags, and our Tumblr consists of many “Tumblr Pink” posts. Yet, I can’t seem to work pink into my predominantly black wardrobe.
The colour seems to be everywhere, and it’s having a moment. Working in fashion, I want to get in on the trend, but whenever I near a pink sweater, I think “I will never wear this more than once.” But, I’ve begun to realize there are other ways to work this colour into my wardrobe without feeling totally uncomfortable.
Shoes are an great way to start. If I’m behind my desk, no one knows I’m trying a new colour on my feet, but when I step out, it’s a great way to test the waters. I also feel like a big scarf in the shade of pink is so chic with black skinnies and a black jacket. It makes the otherwise bland outfit pop. Taking the show abroad, when Pop & Suki collaborated with Away luggage, they released a ‘Tumblr pink’ carry on. It’s the perfect accessory and isn’t a garish or bright neon pink. It works itself as more of a neutral. Working with my long black hair, a pop of pink earrings also stands out, without calling too much attention. If these other options seem a touch too intimidating, then I suggest stocking your makeup bag with Glossier products. Our favourite is the Priming Moisturizer. Glossier was one of the brands to make this colour the trend of the season, and if you cannot get yourself on-board with the addition of colour to your wardrobe, then at least your face and makeup bag will be happy and on-trend.
