We love moms. They’ve gifted us with life, jeans, and hair cuts that require minimal styling. For those things and an infinite number of others, we are eternally grateful. Mothers come in all different forms, even in each of our own lives. We have grandmothers, aunts, family friends, impactful teachers, and admirable women who have been pushing against the glass ceiling since before it had a name. Showing these women they are loved and appreciated is an everyday type of deal, but of course it’s nice to have one day singled out just for them.
There are about ninety different “Mother’s Day Gift Guides” circulating on any given day around this time of year. And yes, this would be ninety-one. But there was something off we noticed when browsing those other lists, and it was that they were saturated in tech. Watches that connect to phones, tablets with fancy cases, tote bags with wireless chargers. All of which are fine gifts. None of which, however, are the kinds of gifts I know moms like my mom would actually use.
My mom has always been a book person, and has successfully made my sister and I book people. Without a doubt, the best gift for moms like my mom are books. There are usually certain books that stand out as “mom books” —you know the ones. We’ve choses a couple of those, but most of the books on this Mother’s Day Gift Guide are books you would like, too. If there is one thing my mom loves more than books, it’s books that she can get me to read as well.
We’ve also got Oprah. Moms love Oprah.
