Dad’s are great.
There are exceptionally intelligent dads, hilarious dads, dads that fix things, well-dressed dads, dads that are learning new ways of thinking, and dads that are combination of all of the above and more. We cannot exist in world without them. They are part of the puzzle that many people are working hard to put together to give us equality.
Dad’s are usually either cast as one of two characters: the fun counterpart to stern mothers or the stronger half of a strict marriage. One is ever-present, active, and caring. The other stoically provides for his family while remaining largely uninvolved. Many may think these roles are outdated, but the ideas they’ve left in their wake linger.
What feminism has reminded us all is that there is no one way to be a man, or a father.
There is one common thread, no matter who your dad is or what he does for a living — he could probably use a break. In line with our Mother’s Day Book Guide, we felt a Father’s Day Book Guide would be equally as appropriate. Give him a reason to put his feet up and spend some time relaxing. Books are the perfect gifts to afford him that luxury.
