I Woke Up Like This. A True Story

I Woke Up Like This. A True Story

Written by The Strategy

Thanks Casper. Seriously. Thanks.

Here’s how sleep has always gone down for me:

  • In bed by 10pm, relaxing with a book and slightly smug over the level of maturity my adult bedtime shows
  • Put down said book, close eyes eagerly anticipating the coming bliss of sleep
  • Toss and turn for the next 4 hours, hating life, and pondering if there’s a trick to this sleep thing that I’m totally missing
  • Wake up haggard and thoroughly disgruntled

In short, it does not go well and I wake up looking rough. Rough.  After reading copious amounts of studies on the importance of sleep and trying every damn “sleep trick” touted by the inter-web, I gave up. I had accepted my insomnia and ghastly under-eye bags as a lifelong affliction.

Enter the Casper mattress. Suggested by a friend, the Casper mattress seemed to have it all and heaps of satisfied customers. The Casper mattress promised a balanced and temperature regulated sleep, an easy online purchase and a risk free 100 night trial.

And man, did it deliver. Neat and tidy packaging: Check ✔️.  A top layer that keeps you cool: Check ✔️. The perfect combination of foams for next level comfort:  Check, check, check ✔️✔️✔️.

It combines latex foam for cooling and bounce, and memory foam for support. A removable cover seals the layers. It contoured to my body like a sponge, with minimal actual sinkage so I still felt supported.

I slept so hard that first night. In fact I slept so well, the next day I went right back to bed as soon as I got home from work. Paired with Netflix and a glass of wine, I had the most relaxing evening.

By the second and third night, I began to see the change in my face, in my mood and even in my body.

So, what are benefits to all this sleep?

The zombie look:

Your body’s blood flow to your skin gets a boost while you sleep, which gives you a nice healthy glow. Sleep deprivation can cause skin to become dull or ashen.

The extra baggage:

Those giant bags I used to carry under my eyes have all but disappeared. Puffy eyes are a direct result of sleep deprivation.

The lifeless mop:

Lack of sleep can cause hair loss (eek!), breakage and effect hair growth.

You should smile more:

Being tired can change your facial expressions in subtle ways. You tend to furrow your brow and frown more, and the corners of your mouth tend to drop.

Thanks again Casper. I have honestly never been so comfortable while lying flat and have never looked so seriously well rested. This story may even have been written from the comfort of my Casper mattress clad bed.
