OccupationCanadian Country Lead, Bumble Canada
Writer Emily Ramshaw is a force to be reckoned with. Her past includes stints at places like Flare Magazine and the Coveteur, and her present is situated as the Canadian Country Lead at a little known company called Bumble – not sure if you’ve heard of it. We’re joking, of course. If you aren’t aware of Bumble, you have clearly been living under a rock. Since the dawn of their woman friendly dating app, Bumble has been killing it and have expanded to include tools to help all aspects of your life. It’s pretty awesome, and so is Emily.
Q&A
How do you start your day off?
I usually look at my phone first thing, which is a bad habit, but I look at any notifications or e-mails that came in the night before. I wash my face, do a very minor skincare routine and then I have coffee. I then walk the dog while listening to podcasts. Everyday I listen to news podcasts.
What’s going on in the background when you are getting ready?
Podcasts or nothing.
You never leave home without…
A lot of stuff! Lip balm, keys and wallet, phone, sunglasses and a book.
What are your closet essentials?
A great pair of jeans and a t-shirt. #basic. Great boots, sneakers, and a good wool pull over sweater.
What is your biggest fashion regret?
Probably wearing really tight neon clothes in university from American Apparel. A lot of bright orange or metallic pink leggings and tank tops.
You always splurge on, and you always save on…
I spend the most money on shoes and coats. I save on pretty much everything else. I don’t shop a whole lot and I buy a lot of vintage.
What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?
I wore a uniform in high school so I didn’t have very exciting clothing. Probably the really comfortable Roots sweatpants I wore everyday.
What inspires your style most?
I feel like I have a lot of things I wear over and over again. I also dress based on how I feel, so I’m not a pre-planner of outfits. Really, it’s how I’m feeling.
Your #1 style tip is…
Dress how you feel and dress in what makes you feel comfortable.
