Q&A
Who is the Estelle Dévé girl?
A strong, humble woman who works hard and knows exactly what she wants.
What inspires and influences your style?
These women. They’re usually older and have reached a stage where they know who they are and what they want; there’s nothing more inspiring than that.
What is your favourite piece right now and why?
A pair of navy pinstripe Celine pants. They’re the most comfortable and well cut thing I’ve ever owned and they go with everything. They’re wool though, so I am going to have to let them go during the summer…
How would you describe your personal style?
Modern/Classic. I usually go for comfortable cuts and fabrics in a strict selection of colours. This way, everything works with everything…I LOVE clothes, but I also don’t have five hours to get dressed in the morning. That said, once in a while, I also go for crazy party pieces and they somehow end up being pink…I’m a little schizophrenic, I guess.
You always splurge on and you always save on…
Mmm…I guess I tend to think everything through for a long time and find bargains, so I generally tend to save on most things; but show me a pretty pair of shoes and my common sense goes out the window.
What is one thing that your mother taught you that you always keep in mind when dressing?
To wear pieces that have been cut and constructed properly, in long-lasting fabrics. She tends to keep and love her clothes for ages, and so should I.
What is one piece of clothing that you would steal from your 16 year old self?
To be honest, not much. 16 year old me was wearing the most unflattering clothes. That said, I’ve probably kept a bit of a tomboy attitude from that era…
You fashion motto is…
Keep it simple.
What is your #1 style tip?
Be yourself, be comfortable and know what suits your body shape. There’s nothing more unsexy than someone who doesn’t look comfortable in their clothes.
