What’s as equitably celebrated as family and holiday cookies at Christmas? The biggest and brightest of retail holiday windows, of course! OK, maybe our love for holiday cookies is a little stronger, but one thing’s for sure:
Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany & Company, and Saks Fifth Avenue, to name a few, have never failed to get me in the spirit of Christmas even when things aren’t so merry around here.
I mean, if there was a time that I believed in magic, it was in 2010 when Saks revealed its ‘Snowflake and the Bubble’ interactive display at its flagship store in NYC. Nothing quite like a festive tale about a snowflake and a bubble to bring a building to life!
Apart from magic, there is really no better time for retailers to thrive than during the holiday season so it’s no surprise the amount of time and money they spend developing intricate and eye opening holiday displays for all to see. Certainly these displays help to lure customers into their stores, but all marketing initiatives aside, there is something about every one of these windows that is sure to stop you in your tracks (no matter how busy you are); they bring light where there is darkness, awaken a sense of fantasy and wonder, and deliver a healthy dose of christmas spirit to all of us.
Evidently, these holiday windows aren’t ones to overlook, which is why we here at The Strategy have rounded up our favourites (both current and past) to share with you. Lights, camera, Louis Vuitton!
