If there is one standout person that has stood the test of time in all aspects, it’s Cindy Crawford. The woman, the myth, the legend that she is. She hit it big in the craze of the Supermodels back in the day, and has not stopped since. In fact, she was one of the first to grow herself into a proper brand.
From humble beginnings in Illinois, Cindy landed in modelling by a series of happy coincidences. Once moved to New York and signed with Elite, she took off in her supermodel way, eventually going on to amaze everyone with her lack of aging, and inspiring sweatshirts left and right.
You might ask yourself why I’m waxing poetic about Cindy Crawford, to which I ask you, why are you not? Now is the time to celebrate. Not only is tomorrow Cindy’s 50th birthday, but it is her last official day as a working model (supposedly).
That’s right. Cindy Crawford is hanging up her hat and retiring.
Some (us, mainly) would call it the end of an era. I’m hoping against hope that Cindy won’t totally leave us all to the wayside, giving us little bits here and there that remind everyone why she’s as iconic as she is. In the world of celebrities, “retirement” is a term thrown around as loosely as a paper in the wind. Rarely does anyone retire and then actually retire.
But Cindy Crawford is no ordinary celebrity. She’s very much so in a league of her own.
Happy Birthday and Happy (maybe) Retirement, Cindy.
