Red carpets are the crux of celebrity style. Before street style, paparazzi, and instantaneous updates from a spectrum of apps, all people knew of a beloved celebrity’s style was their red carpet reputation.
All the categories that red carpet style fall into still existed. The glamazon, the wild child, the ingenue— each era of award show seasons have their own. Except nowadays, since we are privy to a huge amount of knowledge on our celebs, there is different air around the whole ordeal.
We pretty much know the ins and outs of most stars’ lives, wether it’s because of their own invite in or by way of paparazzi snaps documenting their every move. With all that insight comes a sort of understanding of their personal style. Which adds a level of expectation to what they turn up in when it comes to a red carpet event.
Everyone’s got opinions. It seems even more so when it comes to Best/Worst dress lists. I’m not going to lie, there is certainly a more flexible idea of “Red Carpet” style these days. But there is always hope.
Particularly when it comes to an event as big as the Oscars.
If Fashion’s Night Out is the Prom of the fashion world, the Oscars are the Prom of the entertainment world.
And we’ll be watching all the red carpet happenings Sunday night on Twitter. Be sure to follow along to catch all our thoughts on what is sure to be an eventful night.
