Lauren Alexander is a minimalist at heart with an eye for classic styles that never fade. As designer and co-creator of LNA clothing, Lauren and her California based design team, dole out must-have pieces —from perfect tees to sweatshirts and swimwear. And thanks to an insider tip from Lauren herself, we know that something exciting (and super secret) is headed our way in 2018. Get excited people.

How do you start your day off?

I start everyday off with music and a homemade latte. I never rush in the morning. I take my time getting ready.

What’s going on in the background when you are getting ready?

There’s always music playing no matter what. I have playlist for every mood and every occasion. Sitting in a quiet room is pretty torturous for me. Plus, who doesn’t love a good song to get the day going?

You never leave home without…

Sunglasses! They hide so much!

Vintage Levi's 505 Relaxed Jean - Assorted One Size at Urban Outfitters

What are your closet essentials?

Vintage Levi’s, white tees, leather jackets and Vans.

What is your biggest fashion regret?

I went through a really heavy goth phase once – long black hair extensions. I cringe thinking about it!

You always splurge on, and you always save on…

Always splurge on sunglasses, handbags and shoes – you wear them everyday. Always save on the super trendy pieces – I’ll wear them once and then never again.

What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?

All of my vintage bell bottom Levi’s with hippie patches all over them. I was obsessed with the 70s when I was in high school and loved Dazed and Confused.

What inspires your style most?

I am very minimal and casual with the way I dress, and don’t put a lot of energy into picking out outfits. I like being effortless. I was recently in Paris, and it reminded me of how cool those girls look in the most simple outfits. I am a jeans and tee girl through and through.

Your #1 style tip is…

Less is always more!
