The recent years have given us a revolution of sorts in style. A major part of that revolution, I think, is the confidence to show skin and not be deemed any less stylish for it. There is a celebratory feel around being proud of one’s body— most of the time. Crop tops, short skirts, backless bodysuits, cut-out dresses, even the “naked” dress. Every opportunity to bare some skin has been presented.
The catch with going bare is “the line.” The mysterious crossover between just enough and too much. We could come up with all kinds of rules to follow when it comes to showing a little skin, but as with anything that is so personal to our bodies, no rule seems like a good one. The best rule, if you could call it that, would probably be having the confidence to wear whatever revealing style you choose. That old philosophy of not allowing your clothes to wear you applies.
Whether you’re going full free-the-nipple exposure, or keeping it to a sliver of shoulder, how much or how little skin you want to show off is entirely customizable. It’s a way of dressing that can suit anyone’s style since it is minimal and simple at heart.
Showing skin is very much so an art; both in look and feel.
