Staycation Essentials

Now that we’re officially approaching the dreaded “end of summer” days, we thought it would be a perfect time to throw a last hurrah to our favourite season. Not everyone is able to escape the city for the last weekend of summer, but that doesn’t mean it has to be any less fun. A staycation can be equally as satisfying as a cottage getaway when done right. And “right” can mean many things, but the one we’re focused on is the beauty of nonsensical vacation dressing that should absolutely not be reserved solely for vacations.

The easy go-to is of course a dress that would fit right in on a proper holiday. You definitely have one of these dresses already. It’s the one that you ponder on when the weather is nice but decide against because you think you’ll look funny. Well guess what…it’s that dress’ time to shine.

For the “less is more” crowd, a beach-y blouse or two can take a regular pair of denim shorts a long way. Like from running errands to running to the beach, because that’s what you’re aiming for. The same is true for a basic tank top and a pair of patterned palazzo pants, which you will probably find in the section of your wardrobe where your vacation staycation dress lives. Those pants are a go this weekend as well.

The add ons are the icing on the staycation cake. Accessories are what really elevate your look to a place that lets everyone know you mean serious business. Espadrilles are an essential for life in general, even more so when you plan a staycation. Also, it’s the last weekend of summer, when else are you going to have a good excuse to carry around a giant beach bag? Not many, so take full advantage of the opportunity.
