If there’s one thing that signals the new year is quickly approaching, it’s the release of the Pirelli Calendar. Year after year the company produces a calendar that contains images of scantily clad models and actresses. The calendar is always a topic of controversy for the rather scandalous, though always intriguing, photographs taken by a specially selected photographer.
This year, the iconic photographs are slightly different. This time around photographer Peter Lindbergh chose to feature women in a more realistic light. From Charlotte Rampling to Lupita Nyong’o to Rooney Mara, and more. No obvious editing, lighting tricks, questionable outfits or too-high standards. It’s a calendar of iconic women who are presented as accessible, real, and beautiful.
And that is what we’d like our 2017 to look like.
