Festival Fashion

Festival Fashion

Written by Emma D'Arcy

As Glastonbury lands once again, festival season is well and truly upon us!

This summer is jam-packed with festivals for everyone, with an incredible lineup in Europe and worldwide, as the experiences industry does what it does best and provides us all with a much-anticipated summer to remember. Here in the U.K., the anticipation of Glasto’s 50th anniversary year reached new heights as we all say ‘YES!’ to fun, letting our hair down, dancing all night long, singing our hearts out and embracing those ‘only could have happened at Glasto’ experiences.

Then, there are also the outfits, in their mismatched, sequinned, outrageous splendour. The sheer JOY of thousands of colourful people shimmering in the balmy summer evening light, or a sea of grinning faces despite the squelchy wellies and rainbow-coloured macs when it rains; it’s all part of the experience! Even the morning after sleeping in a tent with a questionable hair situation can’t dampen the feel-good vibes emanating from fun and glam festival outfits.

Every festival I visit, I love getting inspiration from the eclectic array of outfits worn by fellow revellers. My favourite looks have to be the more outrageous, the better. Sequins, metallic mini dresses, satin bomber jackets, show-stopping gold dresses paired with heavy-duty boots…the list is endless. Alternatively, for a stylish but low-key look that works for all-weather during festival season, a spaghetti strap cami paired with denim cut-offs and classic Hunter boots is always a winner. My all-time fashion icon (actually, the world’s all-time fashion icon) when it comes to festival attire has to be Kate Moss. Every time she rocks the look with such style and fabulous shades (they needed their own call-out).

If going all out is not for you, even a touch of festival chic can be enough – a nod to festival fun could be a head-turning silk scarf as headway, a pair of unique shades, vibrant accessories or post-box red lippie – whatever you add to your outfit that makes you feel ready to party, is what matters.

Whether you’ve already enjoyed South by South West in Austin, are currently having the time of your life partying at Worthy Farm in Somerset, or are excited to check out new acts at Benicàssim in the Spanish sun, festival season is here. Let’s embrace the opportunities to take life (and our summer ‘fits) to a whole new level of fun.
