Q&A

What are your thoughts on high heels?

Despite my best efforts, I’m normally too lazy to wear them for that long. Flats and boots just feel less conspicuous and in that, more me.

Growing up, who was your biggest fashion influence?

Baby in Dirty Dancing. I’ve loved denim cut offs ever since.

My favourite outfit I ever wore…

I love any excuse to wear my favourite vintage jackets. I have one in red velvet and brocade and another in silk with Chinese embroidery and both always special.

My biggest fashion regret is…

Not buying certain things before they sold out I guess. Happens all the time.

My fashion motto is…

Less is more.

What was your first big fashion purchase?

My Sandro biker boots. They were the most I’ve ever spent on one thing but I knew they were a good buy – I smiled all the way home and never got that sinking-guilt feeling (always a sure sign of a mis-purchase).

One thing I would steal from my 16 year old self is…

Very little! Although I guess some of my old jeans could have been useful- what goes around, comes around.

What is your strategy for getting dressed in the morning?

I wish I had a strategy, it would definitely make me more oganised! I’m normally focused on comfort, what the weather’s doing (bare legs vs leather trousers), what I’m doing that day (am I going to be walking lots, who am I meeting with etc) and then try and figure it out from what’s not in the wash!

My #1 style tip is…

Pay attention to the details; the position the zip on that leather jacket to the neckline of that jumper are what determines whether you’ll still like it in a year.
