Q&A

How do you start your day off?

Monday to Friday, I am a creature of habit. I wake up, have a shower and mentally decide what to wear for the day. I then walk the exact same path through Chelsea to my office in Knightsbridge. I get very grumpy in the morning, so having an exact routine helps me arrive in the correct state of mind!

What’s going on in the background when you get ready? TV, music, etc…

Always The Rolling Stones! I am a deranged mega-fan and they have a song for virtually every state of mind or mood. Depending on how I feel that day I will select accordingly. Normally its “Start me up”.

You never leave home without…

Rain or shine, I am never without a pair of sunglasses. Taylor Morris naturally.

What are your closet essentials?

Black RRL jeans, Belstaff leather jacket, Eve & Kane suede loafers, and 120% Lino t-shirts…. Could run my entire life of these items.

What is your biggest fashion regret?

Anything I put on before 2004.

You always splurge on and you always save on…

Splurge on Ralph Lauren. I recently was in LA and made the hideous error of going into the store on Robertson and came out virtually bankrupt. I also live in London, so a Saville Row suit can also put a serious dent in your pocket. I am, however, a smart shopper and fully utilize H&M and Zara to fills gaps, such as casual shirts.

What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?

I had a mutli-coloured Diesel cardigan which was hand knitted and was of the quality that Diesel used to produce before their decline. It was the perfect balance of hippy and fashion. Some beautiful evil temptress stole it from me at a party claiming she was cold and, as I fancied her, I obliged. If you are reading this you know who you are.

Your fashion motto is…

Fashion fades, only style remains.

Your #1 Style Tip is…

Pick classic items. If it looked good 30 years ago, looks good today and will look good In 30 years time, then its worth buying.
