Sick Obsession

Sick Obsession

Written by Katrina Garofalo

By now, everyone is heavy into that “sweater weather” life. Most people bring out their trusted knitwear at the sound of the first leaf falling. They see a Pumpkin Spice Latte advertisement and run to air out the goods that have been packed away for months.

I, however, don’t do either of those things. For me, sweater weather is all weather. Freezing cold and snowy is equally deserving of my knitwear as humid and sunny. And no, I’m not just saying that. What started out as an appreciation for all things knit and cozy has turned into a full on obsession. You see, every year around this time the stores are stocked with new styles of sweaters and every year I tell myself that I will not, cannot, buy any sweaters. “I have enough,” I tell myself. There is no reason I need yet another piece of knitwear. Another bulky item to stuff into a drawer that was out of space three sweaters ago.

Typically right after this moment, I fall head over heels for some oversized, off-white, chunky knit with a crew neck and baggy sleeves. And thus, the root of my problem. Just as with Pokemon, my motto when it comes to knitwear is that I gotta to have them all. I don’t know why, but I gotta.

And I know that I’m not alone in this.

Sweaters are versatile and comfortable and that’s all I ever need to be happy. So while I hangout in one of my favourite knits, shopping for more knits, and daydreaming about the perfect knit, I thought I would share my obsession with you. Assuming that you don’t share my problem. But who are we kidding.
