With a lot of fashion shows come a lot of complaints. We mean it lovingly and with full understanding when we say that the fashion crowd can sometimes be a little on the problematic side. To vent about what we feel are the top complaints that come with Fashion Weeks, we are creating this space to allow all the negativity to be discussed.
TOP 10 FASHION WEEK COMPLAINTS:
- ‘My iPhone is DEAD!’ The horror. The injustice. The panic. Between checking social media every five seconds and taking pictures of everything you see, it’s no wonder your phone’s battery is having a hard time keeping up. Save yourself some stress and get a Mophie case.
- ‘My feet are killing me!’ If you wear heels, your feet will hurt. It doesn’t matter who you are, or how often you wear uncomfortable shoes, they will never feel like slippers. Which is why, when you commit to wearing heels for a few hours, you need to invest in some insoles. Thank us later.
- ‘The street style photogs give me outfit anxiety.’ is real and it is strong. There’s no quick fix for this besides research. Research and going with your gut. If you think something looks good, wear it. If it doesn’t, no one will take your picture and you never have to think about it again.
- ‘I need more coffee.’ It’s mid morning, you haven’t had caffeine and you are surrounded by people. Not an ideal situation. Energy drinks are quick and efficient, but they’re usually packed with sugar and might perk you up for a bit, but have no lasting effect. More naturally derived energy drinks last longer and are healthier. Grab a couple for the road, you’ll need them.
- ‘Why is there so much traffic right now?! Being on time is extremely important. So important that your idea of “on time” should be early. We can’t clear traffic for you, or find you the fastest taxi in the area, but what we can do is suggest a wrist watch. Cell phones have clocks but if you’re in a pinch, your wrist can’t get lost in your handbag.
- ‘I haven’t slept in days…’ Shows all day, parties all night. You don’t want to miss seeing anything during the day, but you also don’t want to have any FOMO from deciding to pass on the nightlife. Solution: We don’t have one. You’re just going to have to tough it out and go with the flow. It’s a harsh reality.
- ‘All of my pictures are blurry!’ There is nothing worse than thinking you have taken an amazing picture on your phone, only to find out it turned out blurry. Blur can ruin a shot as easy as it can make it interesting. If you have an iPhone, HDR is your friend. Turn it on and the blurriness is greatly reduced.
- Does my breath smell? If you’re going to be in close proximity to someone that you might be talking to, and/or breathing around, your odor should be of high importance. Perfume and deodorize yourself up before you head out, and don’t forget breath mints.
- Too many photogs. Fashion week is meant to be documented. Paparazzi are going to be lurking about, people are going to have their cameras at the ready, and eyes are going to be peeled. Breathe, relax, and be confident. That’s all you can do.
- ‘Dinner? This is my first meal of the day!’ Some shows might be super nice and offer satisfying food, but you should always be prepared with your own. Avoid feeling hungry (hungry+angry=hangry) and shove a baggy of fruit or nuts in your bag of choice for the day ahead.
