Fur is a bit of a controversial topic. The ins and outs of the real deal are complicated and troublesome, which is why we choose the faux stuff instead. Even though there is more faux fur than real fur available, a lot of people are still really apprehensive about wearing a fur of the faux variety.
In light of this fear of faux fur, we want to take this opportunity to highlight some of the greatness that faux fur has accomplished.
First off, the image of Kate Hudson as Penny Lane in Almost Famous would not be complete without that fur jacket. And since Penny Lane is superb style, we can add that extra bit of Seventies flair to our own closets thanks to faux fur without breaking the bank or carrying around the guilt of real fur.
Secondly, and speaking on the side of practicality, faux fur is warm! There is a reason behind why people started wearing fur, and the acrylic stuff they make the fake stuff out of is a strong contender. Toss on a bug fuzzy coat or a furry collar scarf and you will be so insulated that you could take a nap.
Lastly but obviously not least, faux fur looks nice and luxurious and makes you feel like a million bucks. Much like how the trench coat has a personality, a faux fur piece, whether ear muffs, mittens, a coat, a scarf etc, gives you a little extra spring in your step. It’s a subtle way of standing out and being different without straying too far from your comfort zone.
Instead of being scared of faux fur, we encourage you to embrace it! Go forth and select your choice of beginner faux fur.
Run with it.
