Q&A

How do you start your day off?

My day begins with a ritual of a private one-on-one pilates session at my gym, followed by a big green juice at my favourite organic neighbourhood market!

You never leave home without…

My Bottega Venetta bag! Inspiration is all around me, especially living in New York City. I always have a small writing journal, a pen and a camera ready to capture the moment. For my beauty routine, I always have my vitamin E stick on hand to moisturize my lips.

What are your closet essentials?

Classic, versatile pieces, such as a great white blouse, a good black suit, the perfect fitting coat and a neutral coloured scarf belong in every woman’s closet. I also, believe that silk camisoles, in multiple colours, are essential to my wardrobe. At the base of the majority of my outfits is a silk camisole layered against my skin.

What’s going on in the background when you get ready? TV, music, candles, etc…

Usually, one of my favourite Diptyque candles, either Fig or Pomander, is burning and occasionally I’ll have light lounge music playing. I am pretty quiet around my apartment. The world outside is so loud and bustling that I prefer to keep my home simple and quiet.

What is your biggest fashion regret?

My biggest fashion regret would probably be my “ hair-perming stage” in the 1980’s, topped off by white Capezio’s and pink leg warmers!

You always splurge on and you always save on…

I always splurge on a great handbag that I can use everyday, usually Bottega Venetta because the quality is incredible. I love re-decorating my apartment but I save on this expense and instead of buying new decor I get creative and rearrange furniture, books, pictures, mirrors, etc. I love surrounding myself with greenery and repurpose all of my pottery by changing out the greenery to more seasonally appropriate plants and flowers.

What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?

Living in huge, oversized garments! I was wearing the best oversized, soft hoodies and french terry sweatshirts that I wish I could have back. They would be perfect for running back and forth to yoga and pilates!

Your fashion motto is…

Simple, elegant, and classic. Let your inner beauty shine through.

What is your #1 style tip?

I have an eye for what is going to look great on my clients and I advise women to begin each season by taking a fresh look at themselves, and their lifestyle. My mantra is…“be yourself, here and now”.
