“Instantly hydrates dry skin for 24 hours. Use daily for beautiful, healthy-looking skin and long-lasting hydration.”
Sound familiar? Time and time again, I’ll find myself spending hours at a time browsing such fine print labels on the backs of various skincare products in hopes of finding “the one.” You know, the one that goes beyond the empty promises, false claims, and is exactly what your skin needs; the one that makes you ask, “Where have you been all of my life?”
It’s been a series of trials and errors, and still, my search continues. It’s funny because you’d think being the beauty guru that I am that I would’ve found my skincare soulmate by now. I’m sad to say I’ve yet to find it, though recently I’ve come pretty close! Plot twist: this is one miracle-worker you will not find in any beauty department store nor in Karlie Kloss’ bathroom cabinet.
So what might it be, you ask? Nothing but some cold, refreshing H2O. And here’s why:
It hydrates from within. Unlike any moisturizer or serum that barely works its way skin deep, water hydrates cells from within which in turn encourages clear, hydrated, and glowing skin from the inside out.
It’s multipurpose. Not only is consistent water intake essential for good skin, but it’s important for healthy hair, nails, and overall health too. Just three weeks of proper water intake and I’ve already noticed a significant improvement in the health of my hair, and strength of my nails.
Lastly, it’s all-natural. We’re certainly familiar with the brands we wear, but are we familiar with every ingredient in our cleansers? Probably not. Nor do we want to be. But at the end of the day, we all know that heavy sulphates and perfumes are terrible for us all, which makes water the better choice, always.
So there you have it; eight glasses of water a day, and I can finally say, gone is my frustration over dry, dehydrated skin. The only thing that frustrates me now is the time it took for me to figure this one out. So the next time your skin is feeling parched, do your skin (and wallet) a favour: skip the beauty counter, and pour yourself a glass – or eight.
