By now, we all know the importance of applying a good layer of SPF before leaving the house. Whether or not we actually do, or purposely forget, is another story. For me, it took a really bad sunburn (summer of 2010) before I made a point to never do without SPF again. But what about SPF for your hair? Having done my research and after one too many chats – er, lectures – with my hairdresser, I am here to tell you that, yes, SPF for your hair is a thing, and should be taken just as seriously as your last major sunburn.
Similar to curling irons and our beloved hair dryers, the sun can be very damaging to our locks. Frequent exposure will leave your hair feeling dry, damaged, and distressed (not the best look when it comes to your mane). Add the harmful effects of chlorination and salt water, and you’ve got yourself a case of the hair woos.
The truth is, if you’re going to spend money on your hair anyways between regular trims and colour jobs, you might as well take the extra time to apply SPF to your hair for ultimate protection. Our apologies in advance for adding yet another step to your daily beauty routine, but this one’s just too good to miss. Shop the picks down below for added moisture, UV protection, and zero frizz.
