Well kids, All Hallows’ Eve is upon us, and it’s time to get into the creepy spirit. Sure, we have shows like American Horror Story to keep us spooked, but there is nothing like an old fashioned movie night to keep you busy the night before Halloween. It’s also the perfect setting for completing the costume you’ve been avoiding.
We’ve thrown our hair into a messy bun, slipped into our favourite Free Citys, and have rounded up our favourite Halloween films. We suggest you do the same and settle in for a nice fright night.
1. Casper
The movie isn’t scary, but it does provide a great throw back to 90s Devon Sawa. “Can I keep you?”
2. Sleepy Hallow
What can I say, Christina Ricci may be the unofficial queen of Halloween films. Creepy, dark – this movie has everything we’re looking for.
3. Hocus Pocus
“Boooook!” We’re not used to seeing SJP minus the Manolo’s, but this movie takes us back to our childhood and it is a Halloween season must watch.
4. Rocky Horror Picture Show
Every city with the ability to play movies in the park will for sure be playing the classic, Rocky Horror Picture Show. For this film, we suggest you invite your besties, carve some pumpkins, and have a grand ole’ sing-a-long.
5. Practical Magic
After seeing this movie, we may have tried more than once to concoct our ‘perfect man’ with the use of our mother’s herbs. Nicole Kidman was at her best, and Sandra Bullock had a wardrobe we still would wear. Honestly, Halloween or no, this film is an absolute classic.
