Speaking as someone who doesn’t really do the accessories thing, jewelry trends sometimes fall short. Minimalist styles intrigue me, but the flashy and bold…not so much. I guess I just like understated accessories for the quiet additions they bring to my wardrobe.

Which brings us to this clever little trend that’s putting a refreshing yet simple twist on the jewelry mainstay that never gets old—pearls.

Sure, a pearl is a pearl and they’re all very nice and ladylike, and really, how much more simple can you get?

Not much more, but you can get detailed. That is exactly what Nektar De Stagni, pearl extraordinaries, have done. Emoticons, X’s and O’s (not to quote the song), along with spikes and dots are adorning the shining little spheres. Personally I’m loving the earrings the most, but the rings and necklaces are working their way into my heart.

For something on the more ladylike side, Chloé and Oscar de la Renta have earrings in a similar train of thought for the grown up lady who wants a little something different but not too different.
