There is something to be said about adults who can keep plants alive. Pets are relatively easy in comparison. You put food out, you walk them, you groom them, they thrive. Plants on the other hand require certain lighting, certain amounts of water, and no matter how much you talk to them, they’ll never express how they feel.
I have fond memories of my grandmother being a plant whisperer. Not in the literal sense. But still, she could take a dying plant and bring it back to life in less than a day. Her living room wasn’t reserved for couches that no one sat on, it was reserved for plants of all shapes and sizes. That is the plant understanding I aspire to reach eventually.
Right now I’m struggling with a lucky bamboo plant AKA the easiest plant to care for.
So you won’t get any useful advice here—sorry not sorry. What you will get is (hopefully) a little motivation to buy a plant.
Why plants? For starters, they look nice. If you find yourself feeling like your space needs that illusive something, a plant could be the missing piece. Aside from the actual plants themselves, and we’re talking green and leafy plants, the planters you can get are great decor pieces. If you need any inspo, Pinterest has a nice greenery thing going on lately.
Added bonus: plants are good for your health.
Put off being a cat lady a little longer, and go get some plants!
