The Street Style Star

The Street Style Star

Written by The Strategy

Hey! Quick question! What the eff has happened to the Street Style Star? As the chaos of ‘Fashion Month’ is about to descend I am beginning to reminisce the days of spotting Dree Hemingway post Alexander Wang show, Christine Centernera jetting off in some fabulous leather get-up, and Taylor Tomasi-Hill’s flame red hair popping into the backseat of a taxi.

Nowadays, the fashion month chaos is all about what shows the Kardashians attended and what Gigi and Bella were doing on Snapchat the night before Marc Jacob’s show. Don’t get me wrong, I love Gigi and Bella, almost as much as Yolanda, but I miss the authentic feel of witnessing Erin Wasson smoking outside a venue, hoping the cameras aren’t really seeing her. Dressed in a ripped tee (most probably distressed from years of use, and not purchased for $300), leather pants and hair in an un-intentional messy bun. It was chaotic. It was unplanned. It was style. Alexander Wang probably said it best: “Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing.”

So while most eyes will be on the models of the moment, I’ll be keeping an eye on the fashion insiders who aren’t dressing for the cameras. Please like Ruthie Friedlander, Olivia Bannock, Sue Williamson and as always, Emmanuel Alt.
