PSA: Spring is here. It is loud, it is proud, and it is (finally) sunny. And that calls for some adventure. In your wardrobe, that is.
The usual “Floral for Spring” cliché is strong as ever, and basically unavoidable. By the time nice weather rolls around, we’re dying for everything that isn’t a bulky knit, sweltering leather, or anything in-between the two. With light fabrics come light colours, and with light colours comes an obvious pull towards floral prints. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with floral, it’s just that its…well, a little boring sometimes. It’s beginning to go the way of leopard print — it’s becoming a neutral.
To keep those flowers exciting, you’ve got to throw caution to the warm wind. If floral wants to be a neutral, than why not treat it as a neutral? Mix those prints! Clash those patterns! Play! Be bold! Now is the time to try it out. Mixing patterns is always daunting, though that is no excuse to avoid it forever. Taking the risks that feel most outside of your comfort zone are typically the most rewarding. In life, as well as in style.
So, we say go for it. Floral and a check. A floral and a different floral, perhaps. Floral and that patterned skirt you haven’t figured out how to wear yet.
Oh, the options are endless.
