How to Hibernate

Temperatures are dropping, Canada Goose jackets have come out of storage, and your Solid & Striped bikini has been put out of commission, waiting to be put to use again on the sunny beaches of some far away land. Basically, winter is not coming – It’s already here. Gone are the days of drinks on a sunny patio and flip flops to the grocery store (are we the only ones who do that?). Now that winter is here, we don’t want to brave the cold. We want to stay inside where it’s warm and cozy. This winter, we’re hibernating and you can to, with our handy guide on how to do so.

Like any multiple-step program, the first step to hibernation is acceptance. Accept that you may not try the hottest new restaurants as they open; accept that your days of patio season are over; accept that going outside will sometimes, simply be, not an option. Accept the fact that it’s cold and gross outside and accept the fact that your apartment is a much better option than going outside.

We’re talking candles and blankets everywhere. The Danes are onto something with hygge. Set yourself up with candles all  over the place, dim your lights and bury yourself in a blanket fort made up of the cosiest wools. Adorn your feet with the comfiest wool socks and throw your hair in a bun to feel the ultimate level of cozy.

Gather your friends and family at your place so that you don’t have to go outside to get to theirs 😏. But also, gather them so you can all stay warm and cozy together. Enjoy a traditional Swiss raclette dinner with a good bottle of red wine, and we’re sure no one is leaving until the wee hours of morning.
