How do you start your day off?
I like to start everyday with either a run in my neighbourhood or a workoutclass at Equinox. I live by the Williamsburg Bridge in the Lower East Side, so that’s usually my go to running route. When I don’t feel like working out, I’ll usually read the news or a book on Blinkist before I head out. I always grab a coffee for my walk into work.
What’s going on in the background when you are getting ready?
When I’m getting ready for a Saturday night out, it’s usually music of some sort, but otherwise nothing! I like for the mornings to be quiet as I get ready.
You never leave home without…
My phone, but I unfortunately often leave without keys. It’s a really bad habit that I’m working on!
What are your closet essentials?
- A well fitted jean (black and denim); my favourite brand for denim is Ksubi
- Lots of different blazers
- Silk slip dresses
- Plenty of white t-shirts – when I feel like I have nothing to wear, it’s this and some denim.
- Black boots and white sneakers
- I also tend to live in linen dresses to try to cope with the humidity of New York in the summer!
What is your biggest fashion regret?
Anyone who has met my family has likely been shown the image of an outfit I chose to put together when I was nine. I won’t disclose too much, but it involved moon boots, striped wasp-like tights, and a purple pashmina.
You always splurge on, and you always save on…
Splurge: Black boots, silk slip dresses and jeans.
Save: T-shirts! I’m not particular to any one brand because I wear so many, I try not to splurge much!
What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?
I’d honestly hope to never see any clothing of my 16-year old’s self again, but I did have this great vintage leather jacket that was definitely my one redeeming item that I wish I still had. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost it in one of the many moves I’ve done before moving to New York.
What inspires your style most?
I will forever and always aspire to dress like Kate Moss.
Your #1 style tip is…
Always dress to suit your personal style and what you’re most comfortable in, and don’t worry about feeling pressure to wear what someone else says is ‘on trend’.
