Britt Barkwell and Sasha Johnson

Bio

Last August, duo Britt Barkwell and Sasha Johnson launched bespoke shopping site, Trouvaille (French for “a lucky find”). Through editorials, curated collections, customized fashion and interior style solutions, Trouvaille helps women not only discover, but also define their personal style.  This Spring, a.k.a. very soon, the brand is launching it’s first ever co-branded product collaboration. They’re also expanding their styling services and curating yet another exclusive gifting experience. We can’t wait to see what lucky find Sasha and Britt come up with next.

Q&A

How do you start your day off?

I’m a stickler for skincare. In the morning, I wash my face with Dr. Barbara Sturm cleanser, then use Skinceutical’s CE Ferulic serum, Dr. Goldfaden’s brightening eye cream and Pai’s calming day cream. I’m trying to integrate more clean beauty products into my routine and love that Dr Barbara Sturm and Pai are both non-toxic. I use my Vitruvi essential oil diffuser every morning. My favourite oil to start the day with is Boost. It’s juniper, lime, grapefruit and bergamot scent is really refreshing. – BRITT

What’s going on in the background when you are getting ready?

My mornings start with my cat Mac running around my room. After feeding her, I put on music or a podcast. Right now, I’m listening to This Is Love by the team behind criminal, Slate’s Slow Burn, and of course, the Goop podcast. – SASHA

You never leave home without…

The only thing I truly can’t survive without is my phone. My tote is full of the usual suspects (a couple different hand creams, Glossier’s Cloud Paint and whatever book I’m reading), but I’m happiest when I’m travelling light. – SASHA

What are your closet essentials?

Menwear-inspired shirting, great fitting denim, classic slingbacks, structured blazers and layered gold jewellery. I’m a big believer in a scent wardrobe and have a few that I change depending on the day or season. Right now, I am using Le Labo AnOther 13 — a scent commissioned by Colette founder Sarah Andelman for AnOther Magazine. – BRITT

What is your biggest fashion regret?

I think most people have a hard time looking at pictures from high school without cringing a little. My penchant as a 17-year-old for crimped hair and low-rise jeans still baffles me. – SASHA

You always splurge on, and you always save on…

I always invest in accessories that are seasonless—one of my favourite pairs of shoes is a classic pair of Manolos that I bought in 2010. I also splurge on skincare, it’s important to be good to your skin. Afterall, you’ll wear it every day for the rest of your life. I don’t like to break the bank on workout clothing. I can always find great options at Gap and Joe Fresh. – BRITT

What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?

I wish I knew where my collection of local band tees ended up. – SASHA

AnOther 13 Eau de Parfum LE LABO
GLOSSIER CLOUD PAINT
DR. BARBARA STURM CLEANSER

What inspires your style most?

Like most people, I’m completely addicted to Instagram. I spend an unreasonable amount of time scrolling through the feeds of French girls like @leiasfez, @solangesmith, @adenorah and @sabinasocol. – SASHA

Your #1 style tip is…

Less is more. – BRITT
