As the inimitable Carrie Bradshaw once said, “Shopping is my cardio.” As we often find ourselves walking the high streets with arms full of shopping bags, we couldn’t agree more. This past October, Nordstrom opened their largest NYC store, where we lost a couple hours and logged more steps on our Apple Watches than we did with our run club.

When we first heard about this new flagship, we assumed it was shared by both mens and women’s clothing, with a couple stories dedicated solely to dining. We were dead wrong. A total of 7 stories are filled with women’s clothing, shoes, beauty, accessories, and more. If you’re looking for mens, you’ll have to venture across the street.

The flagship opened October 24th at the base of Central Park Tower after a whopping seven years of planning and is made up of four buildings. It carries everything from Vans to Valentino and Converse to Celine, you can dine on donuts or duck egg or pop in for a massage or brow touch-up. The options are endless.

The beauty department alone is comprised of two floors. The first is dedicated to your usual beauty department fare, with a twist. Interested in
trying on the new shade of plum by Tom Ford or looking for a new foundation? Step in front of an augmented reality camera where you can try the colour or shade on virtually. They also have fragrance finders that help you find your new signature sent, even spraying a small sample in the air. The second floor is the “Beauty Haven” where you can indulge in 110 unique services from all of our favourite brands. You can book services online.

In addition to being home to over 100 designers and brands, Nordstrom NYC is host to various concept shops. Our favourite was the Burberry concept. We were lucky enough to catch it before it changed out to the next brand. Other’s include a dedicated Christian Louboutin shop, Saint Laurent shop and the greatest Nordstrom x Nike Boutique we’ve seen. Why is it so great? Instead of a space filled with Nike branded atheleisure wear, this space is filled with Nike brands and pieces a “real” girl will wear them with.

During our visit to the flagship, we made an important life decisions. Upon our passing, please scatter our ashes between Nordstrom NYC’s lower level one and floor two. Those floors are home to the greatest shoe collection we have ever seen in real life. On lower level one, indulge in cocktails from the “Shoe Bar” while you peruse the endless selection of footwear.

Speaking of indulging in a few, while we shop, we tend to get hungry, and Nordstrom NYC has us covered. It’s home to 7 food and beverage offerings. We drooled over the Italian-inspired small plates at Wolf, and wished we had room to gorge on pizza at Jeannie’s pizza and pasta spot.

collaborated Golden Goose sneakers, we were almost ready to head out. But, before we did, we had to check out the customization bars. The flagship has a customization bar for denim, a customizable gift wrap station, a personalization studio and a spot to customize your own Casetify phone case.

After exploring 2 floors of shoes and handbags, 3 floors of women’s clothing and activewear, one floor of kids wear and lifestyle items, 2 floors of beauty, and 2 floors of jewelry and accessories, we were exhausted. While we didn’t take the opportunity this time around, our next visit to the Nordstrom NYC flagship will be one where we enjoy a leisurely day in the massive space. We have plans to start with coffees in the cafe adjoined to the Burberry installation, followed by some casual shopping, a luxurious stop at the Beauty Haven and lunch at one of the restaurants. If we have as much stamina as we think we do, we’ll continue our shopping and meet the girls for drinks at the Broadway bar before heading home to look through our bags and fawn over all that we bought. Seems like a great plan.
