Elevating our beauty game with the addition of hair masks.
With social events and gatherings cancelled, restaurants only doing take-out and days spent working from home, COVID has given us a lot of free time. We like to think that in most ways, we’ve used the time for good. Whether we’re re-decorating, re-watching shows, or learning new talents, this extended period of time has allowed us to explore things we’ve never before had the time to do. Now, as the world re-opens, we’re excited to show-off the results of our favourite new Covid-induced self-care hack: Hair Masking.
This time at home has made us completely obsessed with taking care of our manes. With limited (read: no) access to hair salons, we’ve had to take hair care into our own hands. We’ve switched shampoos, added hair massages to our daily routines, and we’ve come to enjoy the amazing results of hair masks.
Pre-Covid, our showers were something we rushed in-and-out of before work, or before a nightly outing. Since lockdowns and quarantines, our showers and time spent preening in the washroom, have definitely extended. This lack of pressure to be ready in mere minutes, has allowed us the time to experiment with various hair masks. Each mask varies in how long you keep them in; some require only 5-10 minutes, while others require 20 minutes with added heat application. With our extra time, we’ve indulged in many variations, and have come to a monthly routine, we feel we can keep-up with once life outside of the home resumes. We now have masks for every other shower, which keeps our hair incredibly soft, and we have masks we use twice a month, which keeps our hair healthy and strong.
As this writer can attest, adding hair masks to my shower has converted my normally coarse, dry and frizzy hair into the silky strands that haircare commercials promise.
