Our NYFW Diary: Taking you with us on our journey at NYFW.
There is nothing quite like the excitement in the air when New York Fashion Week descends upon the streets of New York. NYFW banners adorn the lamp posts of Soho, and bold, beautiful outfits are photographed just outside of Spring Studios. Inside, at the shows, editors and influencers alike take in the colours, silhouettes and cuts that are to become the trend for the next season. The city comes alive with the sights of fashion.
First things first, let’s talk fashion. We already had a lot to say about the 3.1 Phillip Lim presentation, but there are so many other brands we need to talk about. At Prabal Gurung, we loved the use of deep purple hues and our jaws dropped at the sequinned suit that was sent down the runway. LaQuan Smith and PatBo showed daring cutouts. At LaQuan Smith, the teeny tiny mini skirt was embraced, while at PatBo the sheer fabrics and velvety textures had us excited for the fall/winter 22 party season. Altuzarra had a stunning array of prints and patterns, and Markarian presented a modern take on romance – think exaggerated necklines and soft cuts paired with leather jackets and polka dot tights. Finally, the jackets at Khaite were unparalleled and included a puffer we actually want to wear.
A lot of fashion week is about what you see on the street. With everyone rocking their fashion best, the street style game spotted outside each show and presentation is inspiring. With our packed schedule, and limited time to change between destinations, the shoes that got us through the week were Veja V-10 sneakers, Dr. Martens Quad platform boots and our beloved Manolo Blank Maysli slingback.
