After almost a month of cheering, brawling and tearing up over the 2014 Fifa World Cup, a winner has finally been crowned. We’ll be honest, we were more into the celebratory drinks and parties of the games, than we were the actual events, but who’s to judge?
Keeping up with our tradition, we decided to share with you our German Black Book, consisting of some of our favourite spots for celebrating the win. Not in Germany at the moment? No worries. These places are great all year round, so bookmark the page and be sure to hit up these locals if your travels do eventually take you to Germany.
Munich
When in Munich, we make it a point to stop at Schumann’s American Bar. Owned by the world renowned bartender, Charles Schumann, this place is a legendary Munich spot, frequented by many of the city’s elite. Charles Schumann himself gained notoriety for his cocktail mixes, so try to order something exciting, instead of a boring Weissbier.
Address: Odeonsplatz 6+7, Munich, Bavaria, Germany
Hamburg
Speaking of beer, what’s a trip to Germany without a visit to a beer garden? Our favourite in Hamburg is Schuhmachers Biergarten. Located at the head of Stadtparksee (a city park), this waterfront venue is the perfect spot for a sunset beer.
Address: Südring 5b, 22303 Hamburg, Germany
Berlin
Berlin is known for it’s club scene, so it would be silly not to dance the night away at one of their most well-known clubs, Berghain. The world famous club has been crowed the “Church of Techno”, boasting amazing DJ line-ups and lively feel. If you’re celebrating the German win here, be sure to wear your dancing shoes.
Address: Am Wriezener Bahnhof, 10243 Berlin, Germany
Safe travels! Prost!
