The makeup we put on our faces is constantly changing. Colours, formulas, products- it’s ever evolving. As are the trends that influence what we do and why we suddenly think it looks good. For example, the cat eye. Not everyone had liquid liner in their makeup arsenal, and now its equally as common as lipstick and mascara.
These days, the newest cosmetic to work it’s way into our hearts is brow makeup. While people with sparse brows always knew about the magic that powders, waxes, and brushes could do, the rest of us basically never touched our brows besides a groom every now and again. Since the rise of the brow products, however, we’re all paying more attention to our eyebrows and their appearance.
Thicker brows, which are now the favourite, generally give the appearance of youthfulness, which is probably why everyone wants to grow as many brow hairs as they can muster (within reason of course, as monobrows still aren’t anyone’s cup of tea). Similarly with growth stimulating serums for lashes, there are now products you can apply to grow more brow hairs. For those wanting something less permanent and without as much effort, there are a plethora of makeup products to choose from. Pomades, powders, coloured waxes, pencils that are made of a combination of powder and wax…it’s all a matter of finding which one you work best with. Thinner brows can make great use of fibre brow gels, such as Benefit’s Gimme Brow, that use tiny fibres, like in some mascaras, that actually thicken up the volume of eyebrows. While fuller brows are suited just fine with pencils or powders, like Anastasia’s Brow Wiz, since they generally don’t require as much attention.
One often over looked factor, though, is a setting gel. Clear mascara’s have been around for forever, but so many people forget about them. Truly, and trust us on this, even if you have never paid any attention to your eyebrow game and don’t intend on it, clear mascara will change your life. Running some through your eyebrows makes them not only stay in place all day, but whips them into shape like nothing else.
Instead of moping about, gazing with envy at The Great Brows of the World (such as those of the Hepburn, Delevingne, Taylor, and Cruz variety, among others), go boost your own brows. You, too, can have brows that are beautiful compliments to your face. It takes a little practice, but man is it worth it!
