Tis’ the season for dinner parties, pre-holiday soirees, and cozy nights curled up with a generous glass of cab sauv.
But now, you’ve spilt pinot all over your Elizabeth and James silk party dress. Have no fear, darling, because we’ve got a strategy for that:
1. Perhaps, the most important thing here, is to act quickly to prevent the stain from setting. Begin by blotting the area with a clean cloth to remove as much of the stain as possible. Start from the outside and work towards the center of the stain to prevent any spreading. Again, be sure to blot the stain – do NOT scrub, ladies! This is crucial.
2. Next, reach for the white wine. No, really – because where there is red wine, there is white wine and it’s exactly what you need to ease your stain situation. Don’t ask why because we don’t have all the answers – we just know that it works! So, continue blotting.
3. If the stain persists, look for the man drinking club soda because he has just what you need. Begin blotting with soda. By now, your stain should be mostly, if not fully, diminished. At this stage, a little hot water will do wonders to get anything left of the stain out.
4. Lastly, be sure to always wash your stained garments in cold water and follow any care tag recommendations. Again, the sooner you do this, the better.
So there you have it, ladies. No more crying over spilt merlot.
Party on.
