With the holidays in full swing, it seems nearly impossible to avoid all things red and green. So now, how does one commit to wearing this festive duo? Trust us when we say, it’s easier said than done. I mean, who knew that such complimentary colours could be so unflattering when worn together? No fright, ladies: we’re here to tell you that there is a way to wear red and green this holiday season without looking like you bathed in a bathtub of Christmas cheer. Here’s how:
Start small. If you’re transitioning from an all black wardrobe, diving head first into anything red and green can be truly terrifying. We recommend starting small with a green frock and a red lip. This look offers a pop of each colour without seeming too much at once, making it the perfect stepping stone to a head-to-toe festive ensemble.
Be detail-oriented. Probably the merriest (and easiest!) way to incorporate red and green in your current #ootd is through colourful accessories. From handbags to shoes to shades and scarves, your options are limitless here, and I’ve yet to meet a woman who doesn’t like her options.
Play with hues. Once you’ve mastered the above, you can really experiment and have some fun. Playing with different shades and hues of red and green will give you the ultimate festive ensemble: try incorporating a range of reds like poppy, coral, and crimson. Likewise, emerald, forest, and seafoam are all lovely variations of green. Because this isn’t an ultra-easy number to pull off, you’ll look and feel super confident and less like a Christmas elf.
So there you have it: a super chic red and green ensemble, and you’re off to the next holiday soirée.
