There’s something about a woman who can wear pants to an event full of dresses. She stands out in the crowd, sets herself apart by choosing to take the outfit less partied in. Deciding against a dress is becoming evermore popular, and we think more people should jump on board with the trend.

Wearing pants to a formal event isn’t necessarily taboo, but it certainly doesn’t happen very often. It might be that it takes a certain kind of boldness with style that not everyone possesses. Lorde, Beyonce, and Emma Watson are the notable style icons of today that have made a great case for wearing formal pants in lieu of a dress. Taking a look into the past, the ever iconic Bianca Jagger is the first name that comes to mind. These kind of risk-taking, independent women have the attitude it takes to pull of trousers in a sea of gowns.

And it does take a certain attitude. An air of confidence, cool, and class that makes everything look better on you. Anyone can get there, but it isn’t an easy road. There are sure to be missteps and naysayers, but if in the end you end up on a level of style similar to that of some of the biggest style icons ever, it’s worth it.
