Valentine’s Day.
It’s almost here, and there are only two feelings floating around about it. One is that it’s the most romantic and lovely day of the year, where showing affection and appreciation for others is more welcome than any other day. The second feeling about Valentine’s Day is that it’s kinda not that great.
Bet you can guess the more popular side.
With all the pressure to buy gifts, give flowers, cards, or have a lavish romantic dinner, the sheer overwhelming nature of the holiday has greatly hurt it’s reputation. And while all this is happening to couples around the world, the singletons are usually standing around unamused. Why is that?
Here at The Strategy, we are have come to a conclusion that it is completely acceptable to buy into the craze that ensues with Valentine’s Day. Whether you have a significant other or you’re a free agent, we think everyone should treat themselves on Valentine’s Day.
Yes, the holiday stemmed from the celebration of romantic love and being with those you care about, however, this is 2015 and we think there’s room to grow on this strictly “romance” deal.
For all the reasons about appreciating yourself, having strong self-love, and all that stuff…but also because no one really knows what to gift you better than you do. You know the colour of lipstick you like, your shoe size, your favourite wine, and you know that you’ve been eyeing something that you haven’t let yourself buy yet. So on Valentine’s Day, instead of feeling the need to rely on others for love and affection shown through material objects, why not get yourself that thing you haven’t bought yet but really want to? Now is the time!
Not only is it the perfect excuse to buy something maybe a little bit extravagant, it’s also nice to be nice to yourself. You work hard, you’re a good person, you deal with life every single day. No one spends more time with you than you do, and you deserve a reward for just being your wonderful self.
Happy Valentine’s, Galentine’s (and any other way you can spin the word) Day.
From you, to you.
