With all due respect to our fall 2015 trends that we couldn’t be more excited for, we’re just as thrilled to see some of our SS15 trends hitting stores now. Amongst the recurring florals and colour blocking, there is one particular trend that we are admittedly gushing over: that is, the caging trend, of course.

Looking back on the Spring/Summer runways of this season, caging was a prominent trend amongst the catwalks of Altuzarra, Balmain, and Balenciaga to name a few. Over at Balmain, we saw leather caging take a serious note in black and white ensembles with large “griddy” details. Meanwhile, the runways of Balenciaga and Akris gave way to a similar gridding technique, but in a series of head-to-toe neutral ensembles.

 What we love most about this trend is that it introduces an entirely new way to wear the pieces that we already adore. The grid-like technique adds new dimension to any street wear, is super chic, and is somehow totally season-appropriate: who would have thought?

Whether you opt for an all-out gridded ensemble or keep it minimal with a leather-caged skirt, you’re sure to make a statement that is powerful, sophisticated, yet sporty, all at the same time.
