It was just last July that we first brought your attention to our love of culottes. We gave you a run down on their history, and tried to make our case for how great these bottoms really are, but it seems like it’s only this spring that the’re actually hitting the streets and seemingly, everywhere you look.

When talking about culottes at TS HQ, we realized, this trend isn’t anything new. It’s been lurking in the shadows for years now, before finally taking its turn to shine, once again, in Spring 2015. It was a solid 2 years ago when a friend and I had a revelation at lunch saying, “Culottes are going to be hot.” Last summer, I looked high and low for a pair that wouldn’t cost me a month’s rent, and this month, it seems I can’t open an e-mail newsletter without the word “culottes” screamed across the page.

While it is part of my job to forecast upcoming trends, I can’t say that 2 years ago, I got a chill in my bones and a vision of angels telling me culottes were coming back. No, for the past two years, and probably longer, these shorts have been put in the back of my mind by slowly popping up in my Instagram feed, Pintrest board, and Women’s Wear Daily.  Now that the shorts are more widely accessible, I have my eye on quite a few pairs. Tan, floral, leather, denim, the options really are endless.
