Now that we are getting into Fashion Month, we thought it was the perfect time to look back at some of our favourite fashion documentaries. These documentaries are not only pretty to look at, but they offer an inside look to the fashion industry, that get’s us pumped for what we see walking down the runway.
1. Dior and I
This documentary follows Raf Simmons during his short 8 week period of creating his first Dior Haute Couture collection. The film shows very rare behind-the-scenes looks inside the Dior atelier.
2. Iris
You’re lying if you say you aren’t a little in awe of this glamorous 93 year old woman. The documentary follows Iris as she lives her ‘style icon’ lifestyle, bestowing us with motivating quotes and tons of interior and fashion inspiration.
3. Mademoiselle C
We bow down to Queen Carine. If you are lucky enough to possess one of our TS Playing Card packs, you know we think she is a Jack-Of-All-Trades. The film follows the development of the first ever CR Fashion book.
4. Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel
This documentary has inspiration packed into every minute. It takes a look at the life on one of fashions first editors, Diana Vreeland (obviously). The film is created by the wife of one of her grandsons, so it has a genuine feel to it, and gives a look at not only her work life, but also her home life.
5. Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorfs
We’ll be honest, we love watching this film particularly right before the holiday windows go up, as this film really gives a good look at the process behind it. The film features endless fashion personalities, from an Olsen twin, to Vera Wang and DVF. Everyone you can imagine has an appearance, if brief. We also love the bit about the iconic Bergdorfs personal shopper, Betty Halbriech.
Now, get into something chic, and onto the couch. We have some fashion to watch.
