The Olsen's take on Star Wars

Ditch the mask, & you have a chic Olsen-approved look

The 'Laid-back' Batman costume

Bret Michaels

Yeah, we may wear this for than just Halloween

Written by The Strategy

Now that we’re officially in October, it’s time to really start getting down to the planning of your Halloween Costume. If Halloween is your favourite holiday (like me), then you’ve probably already had an idea in mind since last November. But, if not, myself and the rest of The Strategy team have come up with a few costume ideas that can be thrown together in a pinch, require only a short stop to the Halloween store, and incorporate pieces that can be worn all year round. Some may take these costumes as a little ‘lazy’, but we think they’re fashion forward with a hint of nonchalance.

The Olsen’s Take on Star Wars

Back in 2011 when StyleMint was having it’s moment, the Olsen twins released a Halloween themed video for the month of October. They were Cat Woman, Batman, characters from South Park and my favourite, characters from Star Wars.  Instead of suiting up in full body costumes, the twins only donned the iconic character masks, and paired them with chic, simple outfits. To recreate their look, we’re wearing the Star Wars Stormtrooper mask with a cashmere J.Crew sweater, an IRO pencil skirt and ASOS block heels.

The ‘Laid Back’ Batman

Going the relaxed route again, one of our favourite costumes is a ‘Laid Back’ Batman. It’s not easy to find a female full body Batman costume, so instead, we’re taking the Batman mask and pairing it with a Batman t-shirt,  Rag & Bone distressed denim shorts (which can always be replaced with jeans, for colder temperatures), Charlotte Olympia glitter shoes, and of course, a cape. A superhero is nothing without his/her cape.

Bret Michaels

Bret Michaels is the iconic lead singer of Poison, and a well recognized TV personality. His rock ‘n’ roll look is perfect for a Halloween costume. This look makes us feel a little Behati, and that’s not a bad thing.  We’re imitating the ‘Bret Michaels’ look with a vintage Poison tee, Ray-Ban aviators, Current/Elliot pocketed skinnies, a Saint Laurent studded bracelet, Alexander Wang Louise biker boots, and the absolutely necessary River Island bandana. Never underestimate the importance of Bret Michaels’ bandana.

If you decide to go with one of our suggestions this All Hallow’s Eve, be sure to mention us on Instagram in your comment at @thestrategystories! We’d love to see what you pull together, and we’ll repost some of our favourites!
