They can bring an outfit together, hold our necessities, be the centre of a battle, and a canvas for artistic creation.

You can tell a lot about a woman by what she carries around all day, but none of that would be possible without the thing that holds it all in one place. Whether you’re a hobo bag kinda gal or prefer something more compact, a handbag is the constant in your seasonal line-up of outfits.

Over the years, as fashion has evolved so has the handbag. There’s been a fair share of It-Bags that have made an impact on style, often being the standout icons of generations gone by. Old school icons like the Birkin and the quilted Chanel 2.55 are as important today as they were when they first stepped onto the scene. They are the staples that paved the way for our modern day handbag stars, like the Balenciaga Arena, Chloé’s Drew and Faye, and the Fendi Baguette.

Some might think it’s unnecessary, but we disagree.

A day such as today is well deserved for the accessory that is the centre of many a fashionista’s obsession, second only to shoes. If you are immersed in the fashion industry or are merely scratching the surface, the element of a bag is one that is never skimmed over.
