Scrub Down

Scrub Down

Written by The Strategy

We may introduce a bunch wonderful skincare ideas to you here on The Strategy, but this one is probably one of the most important. We say that because, let’s face it, winter is coming and there are few things we can do to escape it.

And that is why you should start getting into your winter skin routine around now.

While we can bundle up under coats and scarves until we resemble a walking blanket display, our skin doesn’t always feel the love when the cold weather takes out it’s wrath. It’s impossible to avoid completely, but a little preparation goes a long way.

Balms, SPF, and daytime skincare aside, the best way to get your face and body cold weather ready by sticking with your BFFs: exfoliation and hydration. Emphasis on face and body, because none of your skin deserves to be neglected.

We’re all for natural do-it-yourself beauty treatments, but if you’re not the most DIY savvy there are still tons of options. Scrubs, wet or dry, work wonders for getting your skin buffed to perfection, slowly ridding the problems that plague winter skin before they fully hit. Speaking of dry scrubs, it doesn’t hurt to invest in a body brush or a pair of exfoliating gloves (available at every drugstore and Wal-Mart around). We’ve heard the brush can be life changing, and our own experience with exfoliating gloves have given them a high recommendation rate.

For sensitive skin, the whole powder cleanser trend, as exhibited by Josie Maran’s Argan Exfoliating Cleansing Powder, might just be your favourite. Since you are in control of the measurements, you can make the scrub as soft or intense as you prefer. On the flip side, exfoliants that have moisturizing benefits built in, like the Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Scrub, double your efforts.

Though that’s no excuse to skip out on the wonder that is face and body oil.

Hearing that you should put oil onto your skin is a little strange, but fear not. Best used at night, skin oils can completely transform the look of your skin. We’re talking healing, soothing, treating, and more. Dive face first into a bottle of fresh Seaberry Oil and thank us later. For straight up hydration, splash some baby oil on your body before you step out of the shower and towel dry for the softest skin you’ve ever felt.

No matter what products you use or how you go about your skincare routine, exfoliate until you shine and moisturize until you glisten. You skin will not only be as smooth as ever, it will be glowing thanks to the extra TLC.
