Words of Wisdom

Always wash off your makeup before bed.

There is such thing as too many accessories.

Remove or touch up your nail polish when it starts chipping.

If you have to question whether it’s a shirt or a dress, it’s a shirt.

Don’t go shopping for something important on a bad hair day.

Be friends with a tailor or learn how to sew.

Life is too short to have cheap underwear.

Leave your eyebrows alone.

Over the years we’ve come across countless amounts of advice. It doesn’t take hard work to find style tips and words of wisdom on anything and everything sartorial related, especially on the vast resource that is the internet. The trouble with the abundance of advice is that it becomes an overwhelming task. Some are better than others, but there are the rare few that are picked up along the way and stick with you.

These are one’s that have stuck with us.

Always wash off your makeup before bed.

We shouldn’t even have to explain this. Watch any Youtube tutorial, talk to any skincare professional, ask your mom…everyone knows this. Do it.

There is such thing as too many accessories.

Closely related to “Take one accessory off before you leave the house.” For the jewelry lovers, this is a mantra that should be put into practice if you find your arm parties getting a little out of hand.

Remove or touch up your nail polish when it starts chipping.

Nothing looks better than a clean and neat manicure. Whether you go to a salon or are a pro on your own, if it starts to chip it should be remedied. Not only will it look nicer, it won’t get snagged on delicate fabrics like that knit sweater you love.

If you have to question whether it’s a shirt or a dress, it’s a shirt.

There is a point on everyone’s body where a garment goes from a mini dress to an oversized shirt. And while both are incredibly great pieces to own, they can easily be confused when shopping. A good rule of thumb is that if you’re questioning it in the first place, it’s probably a shirt.

Don’t go shopping for something important on a bad hair day.

An outfit for an interview, a dress for a special occasion, etc. It relieves some of the pressure of the day when you feel like you look at least half decent. When you feel like you look good, you’ll look better because confidence is a magical force.

Be friends with a tailor or learn how to sew.

Tailors are truly artists. When you find a good one, hang on to them. Be their friend. It’s worth it, I promise you.

Life is too short to have cheap underwear.

If you’re going to have select luxurious items, your undergarments should definitely be some of those things.

Leave your eyebrows alone.

Thank the beauty gods that brows are now encouraged to grow as wild as they please. Hopefully the early teens of today learn from the mistakes of all those who have tragically mangled their brows before them.
