Now that the holidays are literally upon us, we all are throwing our s*it into bags and trying to get home as soon as possible. For many, that trip may include some flight travel. Whatever is going into your carry-on bag, be sure to have these essentials ready to go. And never leave home without a bottle of water to stay hydrated and your iPad loaded with books and music!
1. A form of perfume is essential to keep in your carry-on.There is something in that airplane air that makes you feel and smell musty by the time you disembark. We love Elizabeth and James’ travel sized roll on. A little roll on the wrists and behind the ears, and you will look and smell so much better.
2. We’ve all been on the flight with the screaming child. Block out that noise with Frends Layla headphones. Que Judy Garland’s “I’ll be Home For Christmas” and you’ll be lulling yourself to sleep with the thought of egg nog and Mom’s gingerbread cookies in your head.
3. Getting through the flight is only half the battle. Keeping your passport and boarding pass at the ready, is the other. Kate Spade’s Cedar Street travel wallet has seen us through many a security check point.
4. If your seat-mate chooses to keep the window up and the cabin crew refuse to dim the lights, an eye mask is an essential travel companion. See you in a few hours!
5. Speaking of catching some z’s, who can sleep with that freezing cabin air? Rag and Bone’s wool wrap looks chic walking through the airport, as it does wrapped around you for warmth.
6. There is nothing worse than waking up to dry chapped lips. We keep Rodin’s lip balm at the ready to moisturize our sensitive lips.
7. Lastly, for the last item necessary for smooth sailing (err…flying), we suggest a pair of wool socks. Kick off your shoes, through on the socks, and you may be able to pretend you are catching a snooze on the couch at home.
Happy travels!
