MET Gala 2018: Best Dressed

MET Gala 2018: Best Dressed

Written by The Strategy

It happened! Last night was the much anticipated 2018 Met Gala! Fashion’s favourite Monday, the first Monday in May is celebrity-filled, and showcases some of the most-over-theo-top looks. This year, the Met’s Costume Institute exhibit is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and The Catholic Imagination”, with the red carpet theme for the Gala of “Sunday Best.”

We have to say, we were very excited to see what looks would be coming down the red carpet this year, and we were not disappointed. Think, couture angel wings, embellished headpieces and crosses adorning everything.

Thank you Zendaya, Rihanna and Chadwick Boseman for seeing the theme of the night and running with it! We applaud you!

Zendaya’s Joan of Arc inspired Atelier Versace dress was everything. And how is it possible that one person can look so good with so many different hair styles?

Rihanna’s Pope-inspired, custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano won the night, if social media coverage has anything to say about it. Can we just go ahead and crown her Queen of The Met Gala?

Chadwick Boseman’s red carpet choices never disappoint, and his Versace look was our favourite male look of the night. That blazer/cape? *Sigh*

Ok, it was hard to narrow down our favourite to three, so we compromised and chose three more that we also couldn’t stop talking about.

Cara Delevigne’s Dior Haute Couture dress was stunning. We want it! Was it 100% on theme, maybe not, but the head pieces, the accessories and the shoes did it for us.

Lily Colins in Givenchy Haute Couture was the perfect embodiment of goth-Catholism, if such a thing could exist. The tear detail on her face, and the cross hanging from her hands; these are details we notice and we love

Trevor Noah in Balmain was also a favourite, when it came to the men. The embellished cross adorning an otherwise matte suite was a nice touch that really stood out to us.

What were some of your favs? We’re dying to hear!
