The Dubai-based blog, which launched in 2014, has become one of the biggest fashion blogs in the Middle East, all thanks to Anum Bashir’s fashion savy and creative mind. With her love for discovering emerging brands and her love of art, she possesses an inimitable sense of style that we are absolutely obsessed with. Her Instagram is a constant source of inspiration, and the DM FM podcast is one of our favourites. Without further ado, meet Anum Bashir.
Q&A
How do you start your day off?
I usually tend to laze around in bed for 20-30 minutes. I check my phone, answer urgent emails, make my bed, have breakfast, then shower.
What’s going on in the background when you are getting ready?
I usually either listen to the news, or have some relaxing music playing.
You never leave home without…
My purse, which is filled with my wallet, lipstick or 2, keys, phone, a pen, phone charger and hand lotion.
What are your closet essentials?
A good basic blazer, a good statement blazer, a comfortable well-fitting pair of high-waisted non-stretch medium wash denim jeans, a crisp button down, a good silk printed blouse and a white dress. I love shoes, handbags, and of course, fine jewelry.
What is your biggest fashion regret?
I’m not sure actually. I believe it’s always fun and commendable to try everything at least once. I’ve obviously worn things that weren’t so great on me, but that’s part of the fun of it.
You always splurge on, and you always save on…
I splurge on jewelry, handbags and shoes. I save on basics. You can always find a good deal out there somewhere.
What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?
A floral linen printed peacoat I got from Zara years ago. It was so cute then, and I’m pretty sure I would love it even better now that my style has evolved and I’m far more comfortable with that I wear now.
What inspires your style most?
The people around me. Social media. Art.
Your #1 style tip is…
If you feel great, that you probably look great.
